
Discover PhD Research RREF Funds
A core strategy of the Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) is to support and nurture the advancement of research in the sphere of Real Estate. We undertake this by funding two key initiatives, PhD Scholarships and RREF Seed Funding, to foster innovation at the Department of Real Estate and Planning, Henley Business School, a globally renowned centre for teaching and research excellence.
Each year RREF supports a PhD student in the department to commence their studies. Below we present some of our currently funded PhD researchers, and a brief summary of the research they are undertaking.
Matthew Pollock
Matthew undertook a BSc in Economics at the University of Leicester, completing an MSc in Real Estate at Henley Business School, University of Reading and is a current PhD student, his areas of academic interest are listed real estate; housing economics; commercial property investment with specialisms in housing supply and the performance of the listed housebuilding sector. His current research focuses on 'Behavioural Insights into the Housing Market'.

Syeda Marjia Hossain
Marjia completed her MSc In Financial Management from University of Hull, UK in 2011 and joined as a Lecturer at North South University, Bangladesh. During her work at North South University she was involved in projects related to the Bangladeshi capital market. While searching for topics for her PhD, she became interested in sustainability and real estate valuation. Her research is based in the UK real estate market and valuers, studying UK valuers to understand sustainability from their perspective. Marjia’s research will also try to find how much of typical sustainability is considered into UK valuation process.

Rohit Bajaj
Rohit holds an MSc in Real Estate Finance and an MSc in Project Management, both from the University of Reading. His research is focused on quantifying the relationship between board gender diversity and firm value and performance of US REITs. Furthermore, his research aims to investigate the impact board gender diversity could have on mergers and acquisitions and initial public offerings.
