On Syndicates and Belbin during the 'new normal'
Henley alumnus Professor S.S. Vasan (PG Diploma in Project Management; Intake HB36) is running the world’s first multi-vaccine animal efficacy studies for the global Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, and also leading our understanding of how the virus is evolving.
Recollecting the words of Dr Stephen Simister (“I am not teaching you lot to become project managers, you are training to become project leaders and project sponsors”), he said:
“Project management is all about on-time delivery under budget and to appropriate quality standards. Studies like the one I am running are time-critical and have to comply with Good Laboratory Practice, related OECD quality standards and the Project Management Institute’s best practice recommendations”.
In this invited blog, he reflects on the advantages of the syndicate method of learning and Belbin team roles during crisis response, and the need to refine these so they are fit for purpose for the post-Covid world. You can also read his additional management insights here and here.
