Successful Arctic Marathon completed for George Fiennes Bursary!

Here at the Reading Real Estate Foundation (RREF) we are delighted to congratulate Felix Fiennes on the successful completion of the Polar Circle Marathon, honouring his father, George Fiennes and raising funds towards the George Fiennes Memorial Bursary, managed by RREF. Felix has been training hard throughout the year and completed the race on 29th October.

So far, an amazing £21,000 has been raised for the bursary, which is intended to go towards covering living expenses for undergraduate students of Real Estate & Planning during the three years of their course. The George Fiennes Memorial Bursary is awarded each year to one or more students studying Real Estate & Planning at Henley Business School.

Despite a fall at the start of the marathon and hitting his head almost 10km into the run, Felix was fortunately able to carry on and complete the race in an amazing time of 4 hours and 58 minutes, coming 38th out of the 75 runners.

Felix tells us that the highlight of his run was the first part on the ice cap, running in crampons in otherworldly icy conditions and only a few miles down the hill, startling a herd of reindeer.

If you would still like to make an individual contribution towards the bursary fund this can be made here
