Pathways to Property Work Experience
Between 24-28th October, 44 Pathways to Property participants, now in year 13 of school, undertook a weeks work experience with 16 industry partner firms during their half-term week. Activities undertaken whilst on these placements included site visits, project work and presentations, careers and CV sessions and meetings with senior staff. Feedback about the week from both the industry partners hosting the placements, and the students themselves, was very positive. Comments received from the students on placement included:
‘Everyone was very welcoming and friendly, the environment at the workplace was amazing. The week was well structured, and a lot of people took time out their busy schedule to talk to us’
‘I managed to see a proper office environment which was very beneficial. Managed to do practical tasks with the property managers and also building surveyors. I also looked at other functions of the business like the marketing team and see how the input positively impacts the business’
‘My week was really fun, and I would totally do it all over again if I had the chance to. I made new friends, attended board meetings, went round different sights up London, worked on a project and so much more. I was also able to network with loads of people’
A considerable amount of time was spent by individuals within the industry partners to plan the week and support students whilst they were on placement, which is very much appreciated, and was very much valued by the placement students. Online mentoring continues with those participants from the programme who have chosen to take this up, and RREF will continue to contact and support them as they move through year 13 and look to make university applications or look at other options in 2023.
