Department News
RTPI President Visit

“On the afternoon of Friday 30th September Real Estate & Planning hosted this year’s President of the Royal Town Planning Institute; Tim Crawshaw, as part of Tim’s visit to the South-East.
Tim spent the morning in Reading town centre, hearing about the new development around Station Hill and looking at the Abbey ruins and Reading Prison. In the afternoon Tim toured the University’s Energy Centre and discussed innovative approaches to energy management with our award-winning Director of Sustainability; Dan Fernbank. Tim finished his visit by joining staff and students from REP, members of the RTPI South East Committee and members of the Thames Valley Young Planners’ Network for a drinks reception, where he shared his thoughts on the important role played by planners, dubbing them the ‘general practitioners’ of the built environment”
LandAid x Cushman & Wakefield Charity Launch Event
“Last Tuesday we launched an event to kick off our fundraiser for the real estate sector homeless charity - LandAid. Landaid brings the property industry together to support charities delivering life-changing services for young people who are or have been homeless, or who are at risk of homelessness in the future. Each year Landaid invest around £2m in projects to provide accommodation for young homeless people. Cushman and Wakefield has set our students a September challenge from the 4th to the 18th of October to do the most steps, raise the most money and answer the question ‘What is the importance of the ‘S’ in ESG in the real estate sector?’”
