RREF First Term 2023 Roundup
Updates from the Reading Real Estate Foundation's work on campus in Reading, UK during the first term of the 2023/24 academic year.
RREF Careers Fair
The RREF Real Estate & Planning Careers Fair successfully took place on Wednesday 11th October. With 400 students in attendance and 37 companies exhibiting, it was a fantastic event that fostered extensive networking, and facilitated the exchange of valuable industry insights.
Student Quote:
“The RREF careers fair provided an opportunity to speak to companies and give tangible insight into the culture and people who work there. It was very informative and a great learning opportunity!" - BSc Real Estate Student, 2023-24
RREF Evening Lectures
This popular series of lectures ran throughout the Autumn term and offered our Corporate Patrons an exclusive opportunity to deliver presentations to our students, focusing on topics related to recent market projects or issues. We would like to thank Berkeley Group, BNP Paribas, Cushman & Wakefield, Eastdil Secured, Knight Frank, Savills, and Strutt & Parker for delivering engaging talks and providing our students with their dynamic perspectives on the real estate industry.
Student Quote:
“The evening lecture series was a highlight of my term. I learned about the breadth of available careers and the opportunity to interact with guest speakers—many of whom are leaders in their field—provided a bridge between theory and practice.” - BSc Real Estate Student, 2023-24
Mock Assessment Days
In November, our Real Estate & Planning students attended a series of workshops designed to demystify the application process and show what to expect at graduate assessment centres. Co-ordinated with the Henley Careers Team, these workshops were a valuable opportunity for the students to get a head start and prepare to join a thriving and competitive workforce.
RREF Mentoring Programme
We are pleased to announce that the RREF Mentoring Programme 2023-24 successfully launched this October. The highly successful Mentoring Programme is in its thirteenth year and offers students the opportunity to develop a one to one connection with a real estate professional. We have successfully matched the majority of mentees and mentors on this year’s programme. We will continue to fine tune the matches in the coming weeks. We have a few mentees still in need of a mentor so if you would like to join the programme this year, please contact us on [email protected].
Mentee quotes
“I have met my mentor via Teams which was really helpful. My mentor gave me some really valuable advice”
“I was matched well with my mentor and feel that the relationship will be very helpful when applying to summer internships and grad schemes”
Mentor quotes
“I find the mentoring program highly rewarding and I truly believe that the students benefit both in terms of their academic work and in their search for jobs post-university.”
“I thought the matching of personalities and experience was a perfect match.”
Property Graduate Social
In the Autumn term, the RG10 committee arranged a welcome evening for new Real Estate and Planning graduates. With the aim of encouraging them to make the most of their network, a large group gathered for networking drinks at Bonds in London. It was a great way to start life as part of our alumni community. There will be opportunities to connect and learn with this group throughout the year ahead. The best place to see our planned activities is on our Henley Live group.
