Henley Alumni Stories - stories from our community
From financial services to executive coaching and authorship, Julie Burton's career has been shaped by a commitment to lifelong learning, personal development and helping others realise their potential.
With that knowledge, I brought together my MBA education, financial services background and Professional Executive Coaching Certificate, giving me the framework to establish my own business.
While working in my business, I noticed that many of the people I spoke to were self-directed, resourceful and confident, but wondered whether they were on track to achieve their full career potential. I conducted a small research project, thank you to everyone who contributed, and became inspired to write my book, Tame the Change Noise®, published in July 2026.
The book is a private self-assessment that enables readers to ask themselves: “Have I done everything I can with what I already have in my career?” The encouragement is to take stock and make incremental career changes before you need to, helping you to Tame the Change Noise® we hear in our complex and fast-moving workplaces.
I am a New Zealander who has worked and lived in Australia and moved to the UK during the last financial crisis. I have appreciated the support and encouragement of the Henley alumni community through every change I have experienced, and I enjoy contributing to the Henley Mentoring Programme.

What is one piece of advice you would share with a current student at Henley to inspire them in their career journey?
