Henley Summer Boot Camp 2026 Empowers 45 Aspiring Entrepreneurs

Published on June 26, 2026

The Henley Summer Boot Camp, held from 22–24 June 2026, brought together 45 students with early-stage business ideas for an intensive three-day programme designed to help them launch and grow successful businesses.

Hosted by the Henley Enterprise Lab (HELAB) in partnership with the Berkshire Growth Hub, the Boot Camp combined expert-led workshops, mentoring and peer learning, giving participants practical skills, valuable connections and the confidence to take the next step in their entrepreneurial journey.

An Inspiring Opening from the Vice-Chancellor

Professor Robert van De Noort, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, opened the programme by reflecting on his own experiences:

"As a student, I founded two businesses that not only helped finance my studies but also gave me valuable insight into my own strengths and into what it takes to run a small enterprise. Although I ultimately chose an academic career, I have carried those experiences and lessons with me throughout my professional life. In fact, even in my current role as Vice-Chancellor, I still feel a little like an entrepreneur."

Practical learnings throughout the Boot Camp

Throughout the three-day programme, participants heard from experienced entrepreneurs, business advisers and industry experts on every stage of the start-up journey. Sessions covered how to launch and grow a business, attract and retain customers, use AI to support business growth, secure finance, build strong legal foundations and access ongoing support from organisations including the Berkshire Growth Hub, British Business Bank, NatWest and Knights.

When reflecting on the Boot Camp, one student commented "This has been one of the most valuable experiences of my academic and professional journey. I now feel equipped and motivated to bring my idea to life."

The Henley Summer Boot Camp continues to support the next generation of entrepreneurs by providing practical skills, expert guidance and ongoing business support.
